Privacy Policy

Jotool respects your privacy and processes files and data on your Mac whenever possible.

Effective: July 12, 2026

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to how the Jotool app for macOS (“Jotool”) handles data. Jotool does not require a user account and does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or user-tracking technologies.

2. Personal Data Collected by the Developer

The Jotool developer does not collect personal data through the app to identify or track users. Files, search indexes, clipboard history, images, and settings used by the app’s core features are not sent to the developer’s servers.

Information that is processed only on the device and is not transmitted in a way that makes it accessible to the developer or a third party may not be considered “collected” for the App Store privacy label.

3. Information Stored on Your Mac

When you use Jotool features, the following information may be stored locally or processed temporarily on your Mac:

  • Files and folders you select, and security-scoped bookmarks for them
  • A local search index created from file names and file contents
  • Clipboard history and images when you enable clipboard collection
  • Items you select for image conversion, screenshot organization, or data conversion
  • Your chosen settings, including app language, conversion options, save locations, and keyboard shortcuts
  • Local state needed to manage the Pro trial and verify purchase entitlement

This information is used only to provide the conversion, search, organization, history, and settings features you request.

4. File and Clipboard Access

Jotool accesses only files and folders that you select directly or allow through macOS. Clipboard history operates only when you enable clipboard collection, and you can turn collection off within the app at any time.

You can review or revoke the app’s permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security in macOS. Revoking a permission may limit features that require it.

5. External Services and Data Transfers

Jotool communicates with external services only in the following cases:

  • App Store and StoreKit: Apple processes app downloads, purchases, and purchase restoration. Payment information is handled under Apple’s policies, and the Jotool developer does not receive or store payment details such as card numbers.
  • Stock quote preview: When you directly request a quote for a stock smart clip, its ticker symbol may be sent to Naver Finance or Yahoo Finance for a real-time lookup. General network information, such as your IP address, may be transmitted to that service as part of the request.

A stock quote request occurs only when you use that feature. The Jotool developer does not relay the request through its own server or separately collect or retain it. Each external service’s privacy policy applies to information that service processes.

6. Retention and Deletion

  • You can delete clipboard history and the file search index within the app.
  • You can stop clipboard collection within the app at any time.
  • App settings and security-scoped bookmarks are stored with the app’s data and can be removed by deleting Jotool and its related local data.
  • Because the Jotool developer does not store user data on a server, there is no separate user account or server-side user data for the developer to delete.
  • Apple manages purchase records under its own retention and deletion policies.

7. Data Protection

Jotool uses the macOS App Sandbox and security-scoped file access to limit what the app can access. If you use the feature for protecting sensitive clipboard items, Jotool uses macOS security features to protect that data.

No storage method can guarantee absolute security against every risk. We recommend also using a Mac login password, FileVault, and current macOS security updates.

8. Children’s Privacy

Jotool is not designed for children, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

If the app’s features or data-handling practices change, this policy will be updated and the effective date at the top of the page will be revised. When appropriate, material changes may be announced through app update notes or the App Store description.
