Overview

Hourveil is a sealed time-capsule journal app. Your privacy is fundamental to our design — all data stays on your device.

Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Hourveil operates entirely offline. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, and no analytics that identify you.

Device Permissions

Hourveil requests the following permissions, all used strictly for local functionality:

Camera	Take photos to attach to journal entries
Microphone	Record voice memos to attach to journal entries
Storage	Save and restore encrypted backups
Biometric / Screen Lock	App lock and hidden entry authentication
Notifications	Daily writing reminders (user-configured)

No data from these permissions is transmitted off your device.

Data Storage

All journal entries, photos, and audio are stored locally in the app's private storage.
The database is encrypted using SQLCipher (AES-256).
Backups are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and password-protected. Backup files are created and restored only by your explicit action.

Third-Party Services

Sentry (sentry.io): Crash reports may be sent automatically when the app encounters an error. These reports contain only technical information (stack traces, device model, OS version) and do not include journal content, photos, or personal data.
Google Play Billing: Used for in-app purchases. Purchase transactions are handled by Google Play and subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Children's Privacy

Hourveil is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
