Overview
Hourveil is a sealed time-capsule journal app. Journal content is stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to an Hourveil account or server.
Data Collection
Hourveil has no accounts, cloud sync, advertising, or behavioral analytics. The app does not transmit journal text, attached photos, or audio recordings to Hourveil or to its crash-reporting service. Limited technical diagnostics and store transaction data may be processed by the third-party services described below.
Device Permissions
Hourveil requests the following permissions, all used strictly for local functionality:

Content accessed through these permissions is used locally. Data leaves the device only when you explicitly export or share a file, or as limited technical/store data described below.
Data Storage
- All journal entries, photos, and audio are stored locally in the app's private storage.
- The database is encrypted using SQLCipher (AES-256).
- Photos and audio are protected by the operating system's private app sandbox and are not separately file-encrypted.
- Local journal data is excluded from automatic app-data backup and device transfer. Use Hourveil's encrypted manual backup to move or recover journal data.
- Backups are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and password-protected. Backup files are created and restored only by your explicit action.
Third-Party Services
- Sentry (sentry.io): Limited error reports may be sent automatically. Before sending, Hourveil removes error messages, local file paths, user data, breadcrumbs, and attachments. Reports retain error types, fixed diagnostic codes, whether an error was handled, operating-system family, code locations, app version, and event time/identifier. Native crash reporting and performance tracing are disabled. Network requests expose the device’s IP address to the receiving service. Journal text, photos, and audio are not included in these reports.
- Apple App Store and Google Play Billing: Used for in-app purchases and restoration. Store operators process transaction and account-related data under their own privacy policies. Hourveil receives purchase status and verification data needed to unlock the purchased feature.
Children's Privacy
Hourveil is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
